LARIDIAN RELEASES BOOKBUILDER

May 16, 2005 — Laridian®, Inc., has released BookBuilder, a unique product that enables anyone to publish books for use with its MyBible® 4 software for Palm OS®. This product gives users the same techniques and tools that are used in-house by Laridian to create books.

BookBuilder includes detailed instructions and program(s) that can be used to format and publish books for MyBible 4. A basic level of HTML is recommended for formatting the books. There are two versions of BookBuilder available:

  • BookBuilder for Palm OS builds reference books that can be used with MyBible 4.
  • BookBuilder Professional includes all the features of the previous mentioned product with additional tools: VerseLinker to automate the process of linking Bible verse references in the books to Bible passages; TagConverter converts a PocketBible file to MyBible 4 (Palm OS) format; BookSetupBuilder creates a set-up file, complete with an End User’s License, for distributing books. The Professional version is required for those who want to sell or widely distribute their books.

BookBuilder for Palm OS is available for US$29.99. BookBuilder Professional sells for $99.99. Both are available for immediate download from the Laridian Web site (www.laridian.com).

"BookBuilder gives users the ability to integrate their own writings (i.e. sermon notes, Bible study notes, etc.) into the MyBible 4 program," said Craig Rairdin, president of Laridian. "Publishing in this format lets them take advantage of the same features they enjoy with the books we publish for them. This includes searches and side-by-side viewing with their Bibles."

MyBible 4 is Bible software for the Palm OS that gives users fast and easy access to the entire Bible. Users can search, take notes, highlight, and bookmark the Bible text. Version 4 added the ability to read and search Bible reference books, such as commentaries and dictionaries. Users can open as many as three different biblical translations and reference books at once.

Features

  • User's Guide - includes detailed, easy-to-understand suggestions for preparing your material for processing by the BookBuilder program. You'll need to start with your material in text format and use the outlined subset of HTML codes to format the text. (It is recommended that you already know or are willing to learn HTML from resources outside the documentation.) User Guide topics include:
    • How to use HTML to format your documents
    • Strategy for creating Bibles and reference books for MyBible
    • How to use Laridian extensions to HTML to indicate Bible-related features in your books (i.e. verse references, synchronization, etc.)
    • How to compile your book using the BookBuilder program. Included are explanations for all possible error messages and warnings.
    • And more!
  • Samples - sample text from a dictionary and commentary are included to help guide you in your own tagging.
  • BookBuilder program for Palm OS - this program will take your tagged text file and automatically convert it into a file which can be read by the MyBible 4 program.

There is no limit to the material that you can add to MyBible 4.* Here are just a few suggestions:

  • Your own writings—this is a perfect format if you would like convenient access to your own thoughts about the Bible.
  • Sermon or Bible study notes
  • Classic reference materials in the public domain downloaded from the internet.
