FoxHollow Technologies Adopts Palm Treo Smartphones and GoodLink to Mobilize Sales Force
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 13, 2006-- Award-Winning Smartphones Coupled With GoodLink Provide FoxHollow Employees With Real-Time Data and Facilitate Increased Productivity With Mobile Phone, Email, Calendar, and Demo Capabilities
Palm, Inc. (Nasdaq:PALM) today announced that medical device manufacturer FoxHollow Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:FOXH) has deployed more than 330 Palm(R) Treo(TM) smartphones running GoodLink(TM) from Good Technology, Inc. to help its highly mobile sales force, senior management and other employees maintain contact with physicians and colleagues while in the field(1).
FoxHollow manufactures an FDA-cleared medical device called the SilverHawk Plaque(TM) Excision System that helps doctors remove fatty blockages (called plaque) that impede blood flow in the legs. With healthcare professionals constantly on the go with little time between patient visits, FoxHollow staff needed a product that would allow them to easily adapt to professionals' schedules. With the ability to access information using the device, FoxHollow sales representatives armed with a Treo smartphone can provide information to doctors at the point of care. They can even use their smartphones combined with an SD Card to show video demonstrations of the SilverHawk at work, eliminating the need to pull out a laptop.
With one powerful product at their fingertips, FoxHollow sales professionals can keep in constant communication with their fellow sales managers, access sales and clinical information, and demonstrate product capabilities on sales calls with the use of high-resolution video. "The use of the Treo smartphone has allowed us to reach out to our 200-plus sales representatives and share immediate insight and answers to clinical questions," said Richard Zimmer, FoxHollow's vice president of sales.
The Treo smartphone has been integral in the creation and preservation of FoxHollow's unique company culture among medical device companies. Leslie Trigg, the company's vice president of marketing, adds, "In addition to using the Treo smartphone to communicate via email, phone and text messaging in real time, it has become an integral tool in deciding the winners of our team-building events at National Sales Meetings by allowing audience members to cast live votes during the competition."
"With the Treo smartphone, FoxHollow employees are always ready to sell," said Tara Griffin, vice president, enterprise markets, for Palm, Inc. "With a combination of business-critical functions in one mobile product, business professionals can increase their productivity, maintain customer satisfaction and achieve cost savings by eliminating the need for multiple devices. The Treo smartphone allows professionals to capture time-sensitive sales opportunities and turn idle time into productive time."
Today the Treo/GoodLink solution has been deployed in more than 8,000 companies. More companies like FoxHollow are taking advantage of Palm's expanding product portfolio and business solutions to better serve mobile professionals. Palm's flexible, standards-based approach and customer-centric model represent its commitment to serving the growing mobile needs of small, large and global businesses.
