Palm, Inc. Appoints Robert C. Hagerty to Its Board of Directors

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 10, 2005--Palm, Inc. (Nasdaq:PALM) today announced the appointment of Robert C. Hagerty to its board of directors. Hagerty is chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer of Polycom, a worldwide leader in collaborative voice, video, data and web applications and also conference phones.
Hagerty joined Polycom in 1997 to build on the vision of delivering a total conferencing and collaboration solution for customers. Prior to Polycom, Hagerty served as president of Stylus Assets, Ltd., and held senior-management positions with Logitech, Inc.; Connor Peripherals, Inc.; Signal Corp.; and Digital Equipment Corp. He also is a member of the board of directors of Modulus Video, Inc.
Palm board members who completed their terms and did not stand for re-election at the company's recent annual shareholders' meeting are John Doerr, general partner of Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, and Jean-Jacques Damlamian, special advisor to the chief executive officer of France Telecom.

Hagerty's appointment reflects a net decrease in the number of board members at Palm to nine, eight of whom are outside directors.
