Overview of AcroWiki

AcroWiki is a hypertext browsing and authoring system for Palm OS. Instead of organizing your notes in plain text memos you can now use AcroWiki to create hypertext notes with links, fonts, styles. But do not be afraid of complexities of HTML syntax — Wiki syntax is created for humans.

AcroWiki is simple!
It is so simple, that you can learn it in 20 minutes. It is so transparent, that you can read memos in Wiki syntax even without AcroWiki browser, just using your memo pad! Yes, AcroWiki uses databases of standard Palm Memo application to store it’s documents: you can view and edit them both in AcroWiki browser and in MemoPad application. Plus, you can synchronize them with PC and even publish them on the web, using web-based Wiki systems like Twiki.

What is "Wiki"?
AcroWiki derives its name from Hawaiian word "Wikiwiki" which means «fast, speedy, to hurry, hasten, quick, fast, swift». The online hypertext collaboration system with same name was invented around 1995 by Ward Cunningham. The simplicity and the power of the system made it popular and it is currently used by many organizations like SAP, Disney, Motorola. There are numerous implementations in different programming languages.

What is "AcroWiki"?
AcroWiki is yet another implementation of WikiWiki, this time for Palm Pilot. There are several variations of WikiWiki syntax, the one we used is same as in popular engine called "Twiki". One of the main Wiki features is collaboration. Indeed on your Palm you are the only person editing your memos. But you can sync them to your desktop and publish online using one of the other Wiki engines for Web. Even without sharing, we found the Wiki syntax to be so easy to use that it becomes perfect way to keep personal notes.

Projects is a standalone application for the Palm Operating System. It should help people to keep track of what needs to be done for a project or task. Projects itself is kept very similar to the built-in To-Do application on Palm powered PDAs. The main difference between these two apps is that Projects keeps more than one list of to-dos. Beside the to-do list each project also stores a memo text. In the current version there is only one memo for a project, future version may probably hold a list of memos for each project.

A new version of TextMaster designed to enhance the functionality of the software on the Treo 600 and 650 (you can load the software on any other PalmOS 5.x device you are using, but you won't see any changes). On the Treo 600/650, there is no ability to use the "Command stroke", so one of the two methods of activating TextMaster was non-functional, and unfortunately, some programs, including VersaMail, would intercept the press of the right-button, making it impossible to activate TextMaster in those programs.

Version 2.4 of TextMaster now provides for activating TextMaster with the "Alt" key, which is a special key which appears on the keyboards of the Treo 600 and 650 (but NOT on the keyboard of the Tungsten C, interestingly enough). Normally, the "Alt" key is used to access accented characters - for example, you press "e" and then "Alt" and get a popup menu with accented variants of "e" to choose from. Fortunately, in essentially all cases in which TextMaster is desirable to popup a list of words of phrases (or the keyboard), you will either be at the beginning of a line, or will have just entered a space character, and the Alt key would be otherwise inactive, so it is a perfect candidate for activating TextMaster. If you are in a position where the "original" function of the Alt key should be active, it will take precedence over TextMaster, so you will still have access to those accented characters.

Galax was the first game I bought for my original Palm III. I'm going to have to download the current version and give it a go.

Based on that well know classic, Galax has tried to re-capture the feel and sprit of the original with great sounds, razor sharp controls, diving aliens and extra men at 10,000 pts.

(NASDAQ: PSRC), today announced that David Nagel stepped down as president, chief executive officer and director of PalmSource, effective May 22, 2005, and Patrick McVeigh, currently senior vice president, worldwide licensing for PalmSource, has been named interim CEO. Reference Quizzer™

The Reference Quizzer is a new tool to help you review verses that have been committed to memory. It is a simple but effective way to strengthen your ability to recall the "addresses" of your favorite Scripture selections.

Milestone Bullets

One benefit of using Milestone Alerts in your Scripture memorization program is that they will now activate the display of Milestone Bullets. By default, each item displayed in your Learn list is denoted by a round bullet. This round bullet is replaced by a diamond shaped Milestone Bullet for the remainder of the current day whenever you reach the next milestone for that item. This provides visual confirmation of your progress.
